RICHARD WALLEY TO TOUR WITH THE JOHN BUTLER TRIO
Following the release in 2003 of his successful “Two Tribes” album Richard Walley returns with the release of “Two Roads” combining traditional and contemporary beats creating a masterpiece of tribal rhythms and modern sounds for the didge and dance market.
“Two Roads” was recorded in Perth with producer HiRO? (aka Patrick Giles) at the helm.
Richard has captured the essence of the Middar style of didgeridoo playing which he developed during the seventies and is known for, on this new album. The Middar beat has become a benchmark for many young didge players worldwide.
On “Two Roads” Richard presents the didge and tribal chant with modern dance sounds and beats of today for with a dance chill down groove.
Richard’s personal history is unique.
He is a recognized indigenous leader of the Arts in Australia having been awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate from Murdoch University for his services to the promotion of Nyoongar culture. As a past Chair of the Australia Councils Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Board for nine years, Richard has played an integral role in focusing the direction of indigenous arts in Australia.
Late 2005 and early 2006 will see Richard tour with the John Butler Trio to deliver a unique Indigenous and spoken word performance “Son of MotherEarth” .
